Welcome to The Rail Life Independent Rail Tourist Blog!

The purpose of this blog is primarily to share my experiences on railways and mass transit around the world; from here in Australia, to Asia and the USA (and hopefully one day the UK and Europe). I’ll bring you my perspective on each system, tips and things to look out for if you travel there too.

From the main lines to the branch lines, the high speed rail to the slow cross country train. The world has some interesting and character filled trains, and I’ll tell you about those that I have traveled on and how to find them.

I enjoy the journey as much as the destination. Some people travel on trains to go places, I go places to travel on trains.
